Title: Modern bowyery books
Post by: WyomingWhitetail on June 10, 2026, 07:31:14 PM
What's out there in terms of books on bowyery using modern materials? Things like limb and riser design using fiberglass. Modern string materials. Epoxies, finishes, etc. A non primitive traditional bowyers bible if you will.

The Traditional Bowyers of America by Dan Bertalan.

Is both more comprehensive than what youre asking but also not exactly what youre looking for, as it doesnt necessarily discuss materials properties and parameters but it takes a look at many different bowyers practices with recent(ish) machining and materials.

These are the best ones that I am aware of. There are others in other languages than english.
Jays book has one chapter on glassbows, but deals mainly with selfbows (including sinew backed and composite bows).
