Title: Tiller check
Post by: ozy clint on May 22, 2026, 08:03:17 PM
Got one on the go. Brigalow (Acacia harpophylla) 62"ntn, mildly flipped tips. Currently back to 70#@19". Target is around 70#@28" or 26" to grip. Top limb is on the right.

Wanted opinions while I still have draw length and weight left.

Nice bend, Clint. THe left limb looks the best but the right is not far off.

Everything looks good so far, Clint. Keep an eye out on the belly for frets. Locust is bad for fretting if the tiller is off.

Thanks Pat.
It's not locust. It's Brigalow, a native Australian timber.

Oh, ok, it looks a lot like locust.

I did a bit of reading about black locust. Species is called pseudoacacia, meaning false Acacia. So they might have similar properties. ??
