Not surprised. Too many hunters don't like to shoot does and they think this will help.
It's just going to sell even less deer tags.
Our DNR needs a  cranial rector extractor.  :knothead:

I have been looking forward to this change. I think it will let more bucks mature.

Going to one buck rule 20ish years ago was the best thing I've seen happen to Indiana deer hunting since I've lived here.

I say its about time.

Buck huniting could be alot better especially on public.

One buck should be enough for anybody.Me anyway. No need to get greedy.

Get more meat meat with a doe kill if you need more meat.

I saw the massive difference dropping the number of buck tags made when I lived down south.  In a couple of years, I think the guys in Michigan will see a big difference as well.

Here in Idaho it's been one deer per year for as long as I can remember.

I'm old enough to remember when Michigan was a one buck state, it was no big deal then and it isn't now.  A lot of the younger generations have grown up with the 2 buck tag, so that has been the norm for them.  I hunt out of state in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Nebraska, all one buck states, and the quality you see is remarkable.  Michigan has the potential for the same thing if sound management practices are used and followed.  (I'm even old enough to remember when you could buy 2 buck tags for bow and 2 more for rifle  :knothead: )

Weve been one buck with the bow , gun, and muzzle loader, if you can draw the gun and muzzle tags very hard bow over the counter . Now this year we cant shoot a doe with the bow but gun hunters can , Its not right if bow hunters can't gun hunter shouldn't be able too.

I've hunted in an antler restricted area for a good number of years and definitely see more and bigger bucks now. Should be interesting to see how this new rule effects the herd as well as numbers of hunters.

I grew up in PA were deer season was bucks only, with limit of one.  There was a doe season after that required another tag.  That seemed to work Ok.  Texas has five tags in the South with 2 bucks and three does, some places require a doe be harvested first.  There are also antler restrictions on bucks.  This restricts harvest to more mature bucks and also seems to work.

Michigans new rules are excellent, including the elimination of the shotgun zone.

Michiganders....I bet you didn't know that the shotgun zone had nothing to do with safety. It was put put in place because southern Michigan had very few deer. Now it is overrun.

Ohio has been a one buck state since before Columbus set sail.    One only needs to look at the quality of Ohio's herd vs Michigan's to see this is a win for Michigan hunters.   The immediate impact will be an increase in the quality in year two.   Guys will stop shooting dinks.

Roger, you are absolutely right here. I had always assumed the shotgun zone was for safety.
