Title: A beautiful stumpin’day
Post by: MnFn on May 01, 2026, 06:42:46 PM
Nicest day so far for just going out and enjoying some stump shooting, with my Bivouac HillJack and an arrow Orion traded to me (the yellow one). They are both beautiful. And match each other very well.

I just need to spend a little more time with them!

Yes Roy,
Bark went flying everywhere. I knew that Bivouac was a good performer.

Good to see those arrows are working out for you Gary.

Not sure about the chair you traded me. When I sit in it, I miss turkeys. Can't be me, can it. :bigsmyl:

I went out today with my HH Redman! Another gorgeous day in the woods! Really enjoying my 1st ASL and loving the Barbee tab! :archer2:

Yes, I like the Barbee tab as well. The Bateman worked for me as well as the Black Widow tab.

48 degrees and crystal clear blue skies this morning. Instead of driving 1.5 miles to my 'spot' I grabbed an apple and water bottle and walked there and back. About 2 miles (1 mile beginning and end) is through rural neighborhoods but the rest is two tracks great for flinging arrows. Probably loosed a hundred arrows today from 10 to 60 yards.  The terrain gives me up, down and flat shots.  Enough sand banks around that I can shoot broadheads too in select spots.

Looks like a great time, I am recently retired as of Friday last week, last couple days has been an adjustment to the normal routine!!! Ray, that looks like a pretty good work out, is that a Northern Mist you were shooting?  My goal is to get out and do more shooting, and get back into better shape, as I'm waiting to hear if my brother and I drew elk tags for Colorado this year. These kinds of posts keep me striving for my goals.

Jason,
My wife and I try to walk a lot in non snow months.  I'm retired but she's seven years younger and still in the prime of her career.  Some weeks we're between 30-40 miles.  Anyway, it's good for both my legs and shooting.  The bow I'm shooting is a 1977 Howard Hill Archery Tembo.  It was reworked last summer by Jim Belcher of Bivouac Bows. I did an article about it for Traditional Bowhunter Magazine (see Dec/Jan issue if you get it). Anyway, Jim repaired the handle, dropped the weight from 57 to 49 pounds and of course refinished it.  It came out beautifully.  I've had some of Steve Turay's bows and they are excellent too.
