Title: Minnesota Turkey
Post by: mnbwhtr on April 17, 2026, 01:55:16 PM
Minn turkey opened Wednesday and as usual I was out there, I only had 2 gobblers come into about 40 yds and didn't see many birds. On the way out of where I was hunting I got a shock by counting 14 gobblers within a mile of my blind. Thursday up again at 3:30 and in blind by 5:30 with the sky lightening up. Gobbles came from every direction until fly down and then nothing, birds were moving on the opposite side of my field, LOTS of birds, I had 11 fanned out at one time. When everything left I moved my to the other side of the field. Today I was in by 5:30, it was windy but I heard a few gobbles. At approximately 7:15 I saw a head appear about 100 yards out and coming my way, then more heads showed up and pretty soon I was being swarmed. The first one came right to my Jake decoy and I hit him with a bullhead and won he went! I like what those bullheads do! Several birds stayed around so I got some pictures for here. My bird was 21# 9 3/4 beard and 3/4 spurs, My bow was my old Bear T/d mag handle with 50 # limbs. I've never been into that many birds.

Congratulations!!  Love it when gobblers work a set.  Funnest kind of hunting except maybe a beagle and a pile of rabbits.
