Title: Thinking about a black bear hunt in Georgia
Post by: Mike Bolin on April 13, 2026, 12:48:41 PM
I haven't hunted bear since going to Maine in 2017 and I'm thinking about an economy (DIY) hunt in Georgia. It seems like Cohutta is a good choice. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks>>>------>

Mike, contact Terry. I think he is the Cohutta/black bear guru around here.

Terry, just putting the pieces together right now. Would love to make it happen this coming fall. My free time is limited now with my daughter and grandson living with us and we take care of him while she works. Thinking about a 3-4 day hunt. My son and his family live in Tennessee and I could drop the rest of the family off with them. Cohutta is I think about 3.5-4 hours from my son's place. Just trying to figure things out. Thanks, Mike

Yes, it would have to be in the fall as we don't have a spring bear season, I just wondered the dates. So possibly I could help you.I'm fixing to put a hunt up on Saint Jude's.
