Hello, All!
I like thin leather on my shooting fingers/glove. I like an open hand and not a two sided glove, which I do have, somewhere...
My old and cheap glove has worn the elastic and velcro out, a couple of times. I'm thinking of replacing that section with leather. The leather fingertips are great!
But to the point: I bought some goat leather gloves, with the plan of cutting off the thumb and ring finger, maybe the palm, and the tips of the 3 fingers, just opening them up.
Have any of you done this and had success? Do any of you know of a good, thin-fingered glove with open palm?
Is this the right forum, or should I be posting elsewhere?
Many thanks,
Ken
Yes, sir, you are in the right forum
I've tried a lot of gloves, some high end, some cheap, and I've eventually settled on Allen Company shooting gloves. Like you, I like a thin glove with an open palm, and these are just that. I really like the way that these gloves feel, and they've held up better compared to the more expensive gloves that I've tried. I also like that I can wear them under my flip over mittens when hunting in colder weather. I shoot bows from 55-60 pounds.
Yes, it's an Allen I'm replacing. The leather is good, but I've had the elastic and velcro replaced, but it didn't hold up well at all. I've not found another, thin-fingered Allen, but it's not that easy finding trad gear!
I did get a pair of goatskin gloves off Amazon and pulled my 47# bow with it. I think it'll be nice, after I take off the thumb, pinky, maybe the palm and open up and shorten the fingertips.
Thanks for your reply and suggestion!
