Just recently started down the archery path again. Been a long time since I pulled a bow and almost as long since I posted here.I think the last time I posted here I was still stationed at Ft Knox. That would be sometime before 2010. Moved to Ft Carson in 2010 and ended up going to Afghanistan from there where I really wrecked my back. Been years to get it back to some kind of functionality. I've since moved back to Texas (wife's parents live here so didn't have much of a choice)
Anyway, picked up a used Habu Death Adder from Big Jim's.Always wanted one and was always so far outside of what I could afford until recently. It's 50 at 28 so I'm pulling 47 or so at my 27" draw.pretty amazed how quick i tightened up groups. I've been fooling around with arrows at what works best, and yet have an arrow that would be effective for hunting. So far I have a half dozen Goldtip Tradtional 400s cut to 31 and 3/4" with a 50 grain insert topped with a 145 grain head typical 3 fletch 4" shield cut feathers. That gives me a 569 grain total weight, a bit over 15 % forward of center. Also have some Victory Bamboo Traditional 400s as well with a total insert weight of 72 grains with a 150 grain point. Not sure of mass or FOC on the Victorys.
In the past I never gave much thought to arrow weight or FOC. Do ya'll think that's enough arrow weight to hunt? Or should I go in search of some aluminums to hunt with. I figure a 2014 gamegetter would be about the ticket a bit heavier probably more in the 600 to 650 grain range.
Have a good 'urn,
Bones
