Title: New to this. Just picked up 3 bows
Post by: Newtrad91 on February 02, 2026, 01:40:49 PM
New to this and just picked these 3 bows up at auction. Just looking for some info/details on them. Collectable? Good? Hunting bows? Thanks in advance

Nice find!

Dave Johnson has been building American Semi Longbows ("ASLs") since the early 80's. I think he's semi retired, but he still has a website and is on Facebook. Here's a video about Dave Johnson bows:

I don't know anything about the Chippewa, but it looks like a forward or "reverse handle" ASL.

As for the Stotler, it looks like an older one made by the Stotler brothers. They built bows for Howard Hill. For a while, their bows were pretty collectible, but I haven't heard much about them recently.
