A most fulfilling event...
Have been attending this event with much anticipation for each of the past 16 years. The number of genuine friends I have been privileged to make is both astounding and priceless. Many of the new friends are only seen once a year at this coveted event and sometimes years later.
I am genuinely blessed and hold the deepest appreciation for Twin Oaks continuously hosting such a magnificent trad event.
Thank you, Twin Oaks!!!
Scott, I've been attending for about 15 years or so also. I made lots of good friends there and most of them I only get to see at the Classic. Looking forward to another year at the Classic. :archer: :archer2: :campfire:
There have been a few changes this year as far as the site is concerned. The hill behind where James Parker sets up is devoid of most of the trees due to storm damage and the metal shed, also storm damaged, has been replaced with a good side wood shed. And I think they've also cleared some more camp sites.

Thanks Pat, much appreciated, look forward to seeing you in May.
Pappy
I'll be there with bells on, Pappy.
If anyone is interested in building selfbows the Classic is the place. They have the Selfbow Challenge where you buy a stave on site or bring your own and once you've signed up you will have lots of selfbow builders helping you get through your project. On Sunday you shoot the course with other Challengers for score and a possible trophy. We've had as many as 60 folks go through the challenge and end up with shootable bows by Sunday morning. There are folks building selfbows well into the night and early in the mornings so there is no excuse not to get it done.

I am New to Trad Bow shooting and hopefully hunting and would love to make it to this, this year.
You will have a great time at the Tenn Classic. Cheapest vacation you'll ever take. Folks start showing up the Friday, April 24, a week before the opening weekend so come early if you can. Lots of bows for sale and plenty for you to try out.If you are up for building a selfbow that is a big part of the Tenn Classic.
Thanks Pat, it is supposed to warm up a bit over the next few days so maybe can start getting a little of this mess cleaned up.
Pappy
Take care of that knee, Pappy. Do you have a brace for it?

Planning on coming this year. I can't find any info defining the classes. Are you required to shoot wood arrows in the longbow class and must selfbows shoot self nock arrows?
I'll get Pappy to give you an answer. I'm not sure.I generally shoot a selfbow with wood, shoot shafts or cane all with self nocks.
Thanks Pat, Their are no arrow restrictions on Long bow, selfbow you must use Wood/Cain/ or shoot shafts but self nocks not required.Self bows must be self backed, no back that will enhance performance or durability , no rawhide/sinew wood or boo, snake skins are allowed. Backed bows will go into the traditional long bow class.
Pappy
Hope that's what you needed pditto613. Thanks, Pappy.
Thanks Pat and Pappy! Coming with my daughter, her husband and my granddaughter, who is probably the best shooter of the bunch. We are really looking forward to the shoot. We have nothing but great things it.

Do we have to pre-order the T-shirts. They look great.
I don't think so but as soon as you get there find Miss Joanie and get one. You might send Pappy a text or PM and ask him.
Thanks Pat.
Those shirts are very nice!
No you don't have to pre order but as Pat said see Miss Joanie as soon as you can when you get there, they don't last long usually. Also here is the schedule of events if anyone is interested.

Will is getting rid of last years load of debitage from the knapping pit to make room for this year's load.
What about the trade market on Friday afternoon, is there a lot of participation usually.
The times I've participated in the trade blanket there were 20 or so people involved.
Thanks Pat
For the first time, Tradtracker is setting up at Twin Oaks. Stop by and see me.
I'll be sure to do that, Norman. Looking forward to meeting you.
I'm thinking about coming down early and trying my hand at building a bow. What day should I plan on being there?
Jason, people will start showing up on Friday, April 24, a week before the Classic(May 1,2 3). I think the actual time for the Selfbow Challenge is Fri, Sat. and Sunday, during the Classic but you can probably start before that. There is usually always someone in the bow building area with experience so come as soon as you can.
Thanks Pat, you are right, a lots start early in the week on the self bow challenge, we made a lot of head way this weekend and things are about ready, ranges are almost done and all the little things that have to be taken care of about finished. Expecting people to start showing up late this week and over the weekend, getting a lot of calls, you never know but expect it to be another good crowd.Got the self bow challenge trophies finished, I think they look pretty cool.
Pappy
The range looks great Pappy. I'll be pulling in on Tuesday the 28th. Please save my tent site if it's possible. I can hardly wait to get to Twin Oaks and see everyone again.

Hey, back on Trad Gang after a long time out of traditional archery. Picked up a Black Hunter at the Ky Trad Fest to see how I liked a little longer and lighter draw weight recurve. Been shooting it a bit and getting back into the swing of things. My question is - if just shooting for fun at the TN Classic can you shoot from where you feel comfortable? I don't want to lose a bunch of arrows and I know I won't be shooting over 15 yards by this weekend. Definitely going to head down for a day and look for some wood shafts (love wood arrows - easier to work on at home and just feel better to me) and check out everything else. Thanks,vAnthony
Wood Duck, you can shoot from any of the stakes but not from outside, either side of the shooting lane. ...also there are target butts from about 15 yards out to about 50 yards.
Thanks Pat B! I am going to head down there on Friday! Not too far of a drive from where I am at in KY.

I'll be heading to the Tenn Classic in the morning. Here are a few more scenes of Twin Oaks you will see when you get there. Please drive safely on your way there.
