Anyone know of a quality shaft manufacturer of hard maple, or ash, or hickory wood shafts? Any recommendations? I love my surewoods, but looking to see what's out there that's even heavier and tougher. Thanks!
Pine Hollow sells hickory shafts, and 3 rivers still had ash last time I checked
You might also try Forrester wood shafts. He has a facebook page.

I made my own. 3/8" dowel cutter and a barrel taper jig. Cut the 3/8" dowel, feed into taper jig so the back 1/2 is tapered down to 5/16", then the front 1/3 so the tip is 11/32". That way the barrel taper is forward shifted. Finally spin sand the shaft into spine. Works well and really doesn't take long. I also start by cutting the board into just under 1/2" square blanks so I can chuck them into a 1/2" drive socket that's chucked into a corded drill.
