Does someone use Titebond 3 when gluing risers with different hardwoods. If you do what grit abrasive paper do you use?I have always used epoxy glues, but Titebond 3 sounds more user friendly.
Thank you.
I built my bows using titebond 3. It's great for risers. I have done glue ups with common wood's such as oak, maple, walnut, beech, etc.,as well as exotics such as blackwood, padauk, bloodwood, zebrano and others.
60 to 80 grit sanding is good.
I just googled the subject of sanding before gluing. It's recommended that the wood is sanded with 150 to 220 grit.
Like I said, I have always sanded to 60 or 80 grit with good results.
Dave.
I forgot to mention, gluing mixed woods is no problem.
I know for sure EA 40 works so why change.

Because Titebond 3 is a lot cheaper and easier to use.
TBIII is also non-toxic.

Will TB handle being in heat box?
All TB wood glues break down at 150 deg.(F) I contacted TB's tech support and asked how to make it release for a project I was working on.
Are we talking all wood or wood/glass lay ups?
Asking the question I was thinking wood to wood. Thank you for answering.
For you tight wads out there trying to save a few cents per bow using white glue instead of epoxy, I wish you the best of luck. Keep it out of the hot box or it will come apart on you.... Tite bond is excellent glue, and has its place. But for bows you would be better off using urac than white glue if you want to substitute for epoxy on riser blocks. It's now called Dura Bond 800 though. .02 cents.
