Anyone use a sit drag for ground hunting? The only review I can find are for folks using them as a saddle. I'm not interested in that. Seems like it would either be great or suck.
Its been a while, but I think it was originally designed to be used at ground level, not as a saddle. I think they used to have a Youtube video of it. Sorry Im not more help, I dont have mine anymore.

I've tried mine out and have since modified it. It's made to be used sitting facing the tree, but I wanted to use it with my back to the tree, and the single line tether connected to the seat strap pulls the seat together too tightly.
My modification is to not use the top strap that's connected to the seat straps, but rather to tie a light rope or cord to one seat strap about 18 inches above the seat, wrap it around the tree and tie the other strap off with it at about 18 inches as well. This will depend on the diameter of the tree. This keeps the straps apart at the top rather than being pulled into a V. The result is a more comfortable seat.
Even so, there still is a tendency for it to want to slip off the back side, but not as much as if it's hung the traditional way. That's not a problem, of course, if you sit facing the tree, but the rather tight seat is.

I've tried the Sit/Drag on the ground but it gets tight on the hips after awhile. A good Saddle is much better for me. It's pretty easy to make something comfortable. Do a search on YouTube for " Preacher's seat hunting system". I have a Guido's Web that is really great on the ground, as is the newer JX3. The best thing about those two is the stand off that keeps your knees off the tree. The Preacher's Seat also has a stand off.
That preachers seat is t for me. I want my back to the tree. I'm curious to see how Orion sets his up. That sounded promising to relieve the hip pinch.

That's exactly what I was looking for and how I would want to use it. Any chance you have a picture of how you do that? Ha I g a hard time visualizing it.

OK. Here's a pic of my modification (in my backyard). Works OK, but I also have a lowdown hammock seat made by fannaticoutdoors.com that is also easy to set up and a lot more comfortable. It is about three times the size and weight, however. Still under two pounds.

I have used it from the ground for several years. I prefer to face the tree. Most comfortable to me with my right knee on the ground
