Title: Bowfishing trip (pictures)
Post by: KentuckyTJ on May 26, 2008, 02:09:00 PM
I just took a group of friends out bowfishing this Memorial weekend.  We had two boats and the fish were up. We shot them from dark to 5 a.m. All the guys said their arms felt like they were going to fall off. Got some really great video footage I wish you all could see that. A great trip.

Why didn't you shoot some big ones?

Just kidding. Man, that looks like a ton o' fun. I'd be willing to trade some of our gator gar for some of those hogs.

What do those way and how much is an out-of-state license for shooting them? How long is the season? Looks like monster fun!

This weekend we shot them anywhere from 15 to 40 pounds.  My largest is 64 lbs. You can find these fish all along the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers.

Owlbait, no season or limits on carp. We do shoot some spoonbill catfish and you can only shoot two per person.

The largest bighead I've ever shot was 15lbs.
I've been told they will weigh up to 100lbs.

Kenny, no those are Silver Carp.  We shot a lot of them as well.  They are much smaller though and don't pull the boat around like a toy in a bath tub.
