Congratulations to Steve on a 42 year in the making quest for a Cape buffalo!!! I've known Steve casually for a lot of years. He's been at Shrewhaven camp, spent hours in his shop and shared traditional shoot campfires with him. He's a stand up guy and incredible bowyer. Seeing this makes me really happy for him. Congratulations sir!!!
Nice!! Love to know the bow weight and arrow set up he used
I remember Steve talking about this at the Baltimore Bowman shoot a few years ago.He always made time to visit old friends at the MD Trad Bowhuntets tent.
Super good fellow, very happy for him.
Congratulations, truly dangerous game hunting. I would also like to know bow and arrow setup as well as broadhead.
Awesome accomplishment!

I read Steve's bow was 87 pounds, they didn't say what his arrow setup was.

AMAZING HUNT, and the bull was shot at 10 yards. Being friends with Steve, I can tell you the man has stones! That is close!!
Wow, quite a feat. A friend of mine and taxidermist in WV, Bill Mason, killed a huge cape buffalo bull last year with a Wallace Mountain longbow (ASL style) by Dave Wallace with one arrow at ten yards. It was Bill's second. He has an incredibly beautiful "Africa room" in his home full of his African trophies.
Incredible harvest
Quite impressive Steve; congratulations.

Truly an awesome feat! Congrats to him. I remember talking with him when he was getting ready for his hunt, he built himself 2 bows to take with him, and I believe he said he was using some heavy Grizzly Sticks but I don't remember what broadheads he said he was going to use.

Congrats Steve. Well done!
Congratulations Steve, I remember you said it was on your bucket list. That had to be thrilling.
87# how old is Steve now? Im honestly not sure whats more scary being 30' from
A cape buffalo or knowing you're about to pull back 87 pounds and you cannot screw it up!
Believe Steve is 70, his bow was 83#@26" and he used a Grizzly tipped carbon arrow weighing over 1000 grains.
Steve is the president of the Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen. He is 64 years old +- He took several bows on the trip but the shot was taken with one in the mid 70's.
Longtime dream and third attempt. Congrats to my hunting buddy.
Well done, Steve! :clapper:
I saw another picture of Steve today on Sofala's sight with the Buff and bow, it says it was a 68" American, 83 pounds at 26 inches Grizzly broadheads on carbon shafts that weighed 1030 grains. An absolute amazing feat!!! Can't wait to hear the story on this one.

Congratulations!!!
Nicely done!! What an achievement! I want to know if there's video.
BTW, I think Steve is a member here but probably not here much if at all.
