I got back from my 12th solo moose hunt in Alaska. My 19-day solo hunt started out very warm. A little rain fell the first week, but the season ended with 9 days without rain. Moose did not move well, but I still manage to interact with 5 different bulls. I snuck up to 12 yards from a legal bull in his bed, which I passed in hopes of taking a bigger one. I called in a couple small bulls. A giant bull with wide antlers came into my calling but locked up at 60 yards. He was not too aggressive and took too long coming in. I lost shooting light. I saw 4 grizzly bears and ended up not bringing home any meat. Please enjoy some photos. Mike

Awesome photos Mike! Some very cool looking animals!
Thanks for the tag a long Mike. Spent a year up there in the Army. No place like it.

Great pics as always Mike, many thanks for sharing. It's the hunt not the kill that drives us :archer2:
Thank you for sharing these! I always enjoy the stories of your hunts. 19 days alone in the Alaskan wilderness interacting with bull moose is impressive! I think I would need one of those volleyballs with the face painted on it like Tom Hanks had in Cast Away to keep me company. A top-notch adventure!

Mike,
Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had a good hunt.
Spectacular! Thanks for sharing
Someday.... maybe 2027 I hope
Thanks for sharing your story in pictures, like a 1000 words. Great stuff.
Yes photos worth a thousand words, that is why I like to make full length films. They are worth millions of words. I wrote about the bull I passed up last year in my 2024 Alaska post, but somehow it is deleted from Tradgang. You can read about the bull in a chapter in my new book, but briefly, I called him in over five times and even got charged by him twice. Here is a phot of the bull from 2024.

This is the same bull I passed up at 12 yards in 2025.

The huge bull that looked up on me this year was in the same maturity and size as this one from 2024.

It is easier to pass up a moose with a trad bow if you have previously taken moose. Since my post from 2024 was deleted, I will post this photo of the moose I did take. I plan to have a new video out later this year or early next year depicting visual aspects of my last five moose hunts. So, my book is about 95,000 words, but my new film with be worth tens of millions. haHaha, Mike
