Many post, articles and video content describes the best techniques for filling a buck tag, but for those of us who want to fill the freezer what are the best tips, techniques or strategies for filling doe tags? What have you found that consistently produces good doe hunting?
No different than buck hunting for me; don't need to rattle or use scents. Locate food sources and bedding areas, possibly soft bleats.
As said above, I try to find travel corridors between food and bedding areas. I use cellular trail cameras to confirm which are the most active and try to have multiple spots so I can play the wind. The does around me always seem to be on high alert, and if the wind is wrong, it's game over.
I am a fan of a fawn distress call. I've found that, once the rut hits, it's not as effective. Pro tip... put it on a lanyard bc you have to keep blowing until they're in range. When you stop, the doe tends to stop and starts scanning with her eyes and ears.
Good luck!
When an adult doe presents a acceptable shot . . . I take it. Much like buck hunting, you have to hunt where they are in the hours you have available. Scouting pays off for sure.
