So first off I am brand new to the forum! I've been in to the Bushcraft/traditional side of this hobby for a bit, finally getting myself a flintlock this year and now wanting to get in to the world of bow making, I've already decided I want to make a Hickory bow, probably around 68" 45# (I've shot bows this size before), My question is what design/dimensions would y'all suggest me doing? I've heard a lot of good things about a Pyramid style bow being a good beginner design but just want to see if anyone else has any other suggestions!
Welcome Levi. I think if you go over to the Bowyers Bench. That's where most of the bow builders hang out.
A pyramid is a good design for hickory. Another option is a semi pyramid, similar to the American longbow style. Go out 6" to 8" parallel from the fades then a straight taper to the tips.
Hope to see you on Bowyers Bench.
