Title: Australian native timber for selfbow
Post by: Trad_Hunter_Down_Under on September 25, 2025, 03:29:02 AM
Im looking at getting into making some self bows. Does anyone know if there are any Australian native timbers that are up to the task? I have heard spotted gum is pretty good, however I have no first hand experience with it.

I have also heard that spotted gum is good for selfbows but I'm not familiar with other Aussy hardwoods. If you can find black locust(Robina pseudoacacia) it is also a good selfbow wood. I think I heard it was planted there for erosion control.
