I have a 1976 Bear Kodiak.Right hand 60 inch and it is marked 45 lb on the handle.I did not check the weight when I bought it from a friend. It pulls 55 plus pounds at 28 inch draw. Why would the lbs be off so much? Thanks for the help.
What type of scale are you using, and how are you measuring the draw length when it on the scale?
The measurement should be to the back of the riser, not the deepest part of the grip. If you are measuring it that way, check the weight at 26.25"
That may be the issue.... Kirk
I was measuring to the deepest part of the grip! :biglaugh: Thank you
I remeasured and it is 50 lb.It still is not 45 lb but not as bad as I thought.

Yup... that's what I figured....
Different scales used can make up for 2-3 #. It's actually rare these bows hit exact draw weight. Especially production bows.
I have a 1975 kodiak hunter. its marked 50 @ 28 but pulls 57# . Ive tried three scales and all of them read the same or a few ounces over. the bow is Marked 45x# .
What is the brace height?

Look carefully how its marked. I think some of the older bows were marked 50+ or -
