I am shooting a mild R/D longbow. Not cut to center my arrows are 30 inches and Iam pulling about 58 pounds with a 175 grain point weight. Thanks
cx250s should work bare shaft tune them mabe 275gr to 300 up front
Gordon, maybe the 150's for me??
Bullfrog,
Yes, I think the 150s will be best for you with that setup.
150's
Bullfrog, I shoot a r/d longbow(CUT TO CENTER) 57#@32" and I shoot a full length CX 250 with 225 grs. up front. I hope this helps. I think Gordy's gonna be close by my estimate. Dave
I shoot a 56@28 Hornes traditionalist with 29" CX 150 with 200gr up front and they are perfect for me.Chad
I tryed 150 @30" and they weresoo soft with175gr fiekld points and 100gr inserts dropped the weiht to 225 up front bare shafted good thats @ 62./at 28''250s cx for me is best flight can run up to 300 grain up front and you have shaft and up to 300gr up front and things fly great wofks for me on only changing point or broadhead weightg :bigsmyl:
I have an update. the 150's with 175 grains were weak. I just got 6 250's hope they do it I have not tried them yet. BILL
I'm, shooting 55#@32" and use the 350's.
I'll send you one if you want to try it before you buy some.
Biggie, thanks. I may take you up on it if these don't work. Have you found them pretty durable? BILL
I think they are, but I don't use a carbon shaft again once I shoot a critter with it. It goes in the dead critter bucket. I've seen too many pictures of fractured carbon shafts and for me, I don't want that in the back of my mind when I'm shooting.
I figure one arrow for one critter is a good average :-)
Bill,
I am playin with the 250's for a moose hunt, shooting 58# they are 29.5 inches long with 285 up front they total 650 gr and fly like darts!
I shoot 29" 250's at 60-61# with 200 up front. R/D longbow cut just past center.
Go with 30.5" 250 with a regular insert and 175 grain point weight for around 185-190 up front and it should fly for ya. Shawn
Alright guys, I'm thinking of trying the cx shafts (currently woodies). 68" Liberty English longbow 47# @ 30". What shaft & tip weight would you recommend? Is there anywhere you can purchase just one or two shafts to test. I know it will be between the 150 & 250, Thanks!
Brent
3-Rivers has test kits (2 of each - 150, 250 & 350). Thing is, you should be using at least 3 arrows to get a typical performance.
Ephram, they are great shafts and Black Widow sells them, they call them tuning shafts, for $8 a piece complete with nock, insert and adapter weighs.Get a 150&250 and see what works best.
Thanks Jeff! That's much better than the 3 Rivers $54 "test" kit.
Brent
What Shawn said
I shoot 30.5" 250 with 210 up front out of Shawns old Black Widow 57@29 and they work great
I'll join the conversation. I shoot a maiii widow 52#@30". What ce heritage set up recommended?
