I've used Bohning products in the past with excellent results, but the fumes were starting to get to me, and it requires a lot of material and equipment for the few arrows I now do.
I switched to hardware store spray enamel. I've used duco cement to glue on the feathers, but I've had a number of them come off. I reglued with fletch tite, and they're holding so far.
Is there something you've fund that works well on rattle can enamel? I'm also thinking that spray lacquer (if I can find it in white) might also work with lacquer based fletch tite glue. Anyone try something like that?
Full disclosure, I'm no paint expert. I've had horrible luck with rust oleum from the big can at hardware stores mixed with gorilla grip super. It was even worse with fletch tite.
When I seal it up with a clear laquer it adheres well, however. It also does well with my rattle cans that are for furniture. I've started just using my clear matte lacquer to seal them all anyway and I frequently pull my fletched through plastic bottles and jugs. All holding really well.
I wish I knew what base paints they each are or more specific answer but that's what's worked for me in a pinch and I hope that helps/works for you.

Jerry, I think you will be just fine with the Platinum. I also wouldn't be scared try regular ole CA glue / super glue when going to enamel. Just a thought about you mentioning the spray lacquer ..... if you go that route, you will be right back in the realm of fume city, what you are trying to avoid with the Bohning stuff. AND, unlike dipping in a dip tube like you'd do with the Bohning, you'd be spraying and dispersing it into the air ..... might smell even worse and definitely be less contained. Just my thoughts on it. Fumes ...... the biggest downside unfortunately to Bohning finishes. Next might be the cost, they don't give that stuff away!
If the platinum is holding, id stick with it. Or give superglue a shot. Loc Tite or Gorilla brands.
Thanks folks. Think I'll buy some NPV and compare it to Fletch Tite platinum on a test shaft sprayed with enamel. Would rather go that route than lacquer. Think I have some super glue lying around that I could try as well.
I've done quite a number of wood arrows sprayed with a rattle can paint for crown dip and have never had any issues with using Duco glue.
Orion, I've had the same experiences as you with dipping, the fumes, waste and cost. I don't own a single arrow now that doesn't have a wrap on it, including woodies. As they say "no muss, no fuss". I use either Platinum or NPV and have never lost a feather. Just a suggestion.
