Title: Compton/Cloverdale treasures.
Post by: soap creek on June 22, 2025, 04:38:59 AM
Had a great time at both these events. Picked up a Bear green Selway quiver at Cloverdale (Andy and Deb great people), and a beautiful knife from Big River. Brian really knows how to make a knife.

Nice, I am a big fan of Selway the only bow quiver I have used.

This is a Big River knife I got from Brian.  Incredible beaty.  Sambar antler handle, Mastodon bone arrowhead in handle butt.

Thanks you guys for the support. Great weekend, 1 away from selling out, despite the heat. Barry Wensel seemed to love the knife he got for speaking, and the donation knife did pretty well too. Glad to be back in the ac though!

Yes, Compton gifted me one of Brian Hallstead's Big River Blades knives as a thank you for me giving a couple talks over the weekend. To say the knife is beautiful is an understatement. Mine is similar in design as the ones above, with a tapered tang blade, stainless bolster and pins, with an inlaid 10,000-year-old-plus Mastodon ivory arrowhead on both sides of the dark buffalo horn scales. It also has a red pinstripe G10 liner to add a hint of color, and some perfect arrowhead file work on the spine of the blade. It also came with a custom cross-draw sheath, as well as a plush/cushioned/padded zippered case. It's a showpiece! I don't know if I can bring myself to actually gut something with it. Ha. Thank you to both Brian Hallstead and the Compton organization for this generous gift.

Thanks Barry, glad I could be a small part of the great weekend at Compton. I hope that knife can do some work on a giant buck this fall.

I was hoping I was going to win the black bear hunt package with Homer Ocean charters.  Whomever won that hit the jackpot!
