I've had several makes of ASLs and they all came with FF except a Hill Tembo. I'm slowly be becoming a B55 fan on all of them. I don't know if it's more forgiving of my poor release or it's just in my head (more likely the latter)but I seem to shoot better with the B55. So right now B55 gets my vote.
I just ordered a string from Allen Shafer - Ten Ring Strings.
Going to give it a whirl on my new Bivouac - HillJack.
I always made/shot dacron strings, but started playing with some D97 about a year and a half ago and really like it. I have been making 8-strand strings, with the loops padded up to 16. The majority of bows I have tried it on sound quieter to my ears. I'm running it on all my ASLs right now, and none of them have tip overlays, just fiberglass wedges. Bows are between 44 and 54 #.
I use 12 strands of D-97 padded to 16 in the loops. I think D-97n is louder than dacron, but it reduces hand shock and increases speed a tad. I like it.
