Title: Fractal burning
Post by: chefrvitale on June 09, 2025, 02:52:34 PM
Hello all, I have a friend that has been making cutting boards with fractal burns made with a car battery.
He fills the burn marks with epoxy for some very interesting pieces.
Over the next few weeks I am going to put together a few riser blocks using this effect.
I was curious if any of you had seen or tried it.

I've seen it on YouTube with guys turning bowls, but not with anything archery related.
Sounds like it might be cool in a riser - let us know how it goes.

James Parker had a bow he made at the Tenn. Classic with fractal burning on the limbs and riser. Pretty cool looking.

That makes me wonder if my battery charger and voltage regulator I use for my heat strips might be enough juice to try some of this? I watched several videos on it, and I think it's a very cool idea for a riser. I may play with this myself a bit and see what happens. Could make some very cool Christmas gifts using this procedure.   Kirk
