So I've just purchased a Bob Lee Ultimate with Cobra Curves. I was wondering how to DIY wool limb pocket silencers. I know Mountian Muffler strings can have them tied in but was wondering how you do that with an existing string that doesn't have them in it already? Can't seem to find a YouTube on it.
If it's a flemish twist string, mark where you want the muffs (masking tape works good), unstring the bow, open the braid at your marks and slide in the silencers. Push the braid on either side of the silencer toward the puff to snug it up a little and string the bow. No need to tie them in, though you can if you want to.
Are you referring to yarn wrapped around the string where it contacts the string groove? If so I may have some instructions from another archery forum.
I perhaps misunderstood your post. Thought you were talking about string silencers. If you're asking about the wool wrap near the end loops, as Ramjet suggests, it's just a simple matter of winding some wool around the string. On the strung bow, mark how far down the string you need to come. Mark with masking tape, then take the string off the bow and stretch it between a couple of nails and have at it. If you don't know how to cinch the line under the wraps, check examples of tying on nock points here or fishing rod line wraps on u-tube.
