I've got a bunch of quivers that I've accumulated over the years. I've pretty much always used a bow quiver for hunting. However, I have used a back quiver from time to time...
I have 2 Side Stalker quivers, 1 which I believe is an original? I have used them a few times for 3D and stumping, and I like them!! I've just never hunted with one... Just wondering how many folks out there use them for hunting, and maybe share why you like them?
I don't know specifically about Side Stalker quivers, but I have used Safari Tuff side quivers for years.
I had full sized one, but I sold it and bought a Duiker. I don't think they make the Duiker anymore. It limits the amount of arrows you can carry somewhat, but I think it is big enough most of the time.
I like three things about it.
First, I don't really like a quiver hanging off my bow, but I do use a bow quiver on occasion.
Secondly, I like that colorful fletching is hidden.
Thirdly, it keeps my arrows dry. I don't generally hunt in heavy rain, but it happens sometimes. One year while backpacking in Colorado it seemed like every afternoon you could expect a rain shower to come through. It didn't last very long, but it was enough to get wet in it.
I hunt with a bow quiver but I always have my side quiver full of judos and blunts and I have four side quiver one is the Jack Bowers Wilderness side stalker quiver and one of the first Arrow master in spring green from Mr. Terry Green. I have one of Ted Frey deluxe side quiver and one made for me by Skip Polak aka Roadkill got one of the Colman side quivers too. I will be getting another Jack Bower Wilderness side stalker quiver here soon there my favorite,
I still hunt with mine a lot .
They , along with a SafariTuff, are my fave quivers to hunt with.
As a habitual stumper and rover I get to carry extra arrows , can wear a back pack and also keep my feathers dry as needed ..
I use a side stalker for roving and range shooting, but prefer a bow quiver for hunting.
Yep, I made that stalker quiver. No plans, just a rough idea and cut and stitched up the leather.
I use a side stalker type quiver for target and 3D. I make mine with a tapered wood plug for the end with the foam attached. I insert it from inside and can remove it to replace the foam.

For hunting I prefer the GFA style quiver. I made this one from my old Selway bow quiver. I also have one made from a Kwiki Kwiver and have a quick connector mounter on my tree stand.

Nice quivers Pat B
I am not a bow quiver fan so the side stalker fits me . I made my own from the plans available on this site years ago now. Had my wife make a cover to keep the fletch dry in case it rained. I made the "cup" part deeper so I could put a chunk of foam in there so I can keep broadheads not only separate but almost covered.
This is my favorite
This is Ted Frey's stalker quiver
I own one and have used it for many years. I did add a foam plug to space arrows apart in the opening end for hunting. I do not use ithe foam plugfor anything else.
When weights an issue i sling a original gn longbow quiver, asbell style, with a hunk of 550 cord. Light and works great.
Safari Tuff for hunting. Leather sidestalker for 3D, casual stumping, outside at the range. Just switched a few years ago from either a basket or leather back quiver, seems like less hot and sweaty on the back.
On long multi-day hunts I carry a Riverwolf tube quiver full of extra arrows.

I keep a one arrow "quiver" on my bow and wear a Jim Bowers Side Stalker to carry the rest. With foam insert for broadheads and without to carry up to 18 blunts for roving.
Going to talk to a guy that has a new Jack Bowers The WILDERNESS, Side Stalker Quiver that will be two that I'll have sur like Stumpkiller's black one.
I used one all last season. It worked great for me. Prolly gonna this year as well.
Also the Alpha wolf quiver. From Riverwolf.
I have one of the original Jack Bowers Wilderness side quivers that I purchased through Dean Torges many many years ago. I love it as a hunting quiver, particularly with longbows as I really don't like bow quivers on a longbow. I use it every year and just can't seem to wear it out. Arrows are easy to draw and replace. Works great for me!
I use pretty much everything but a bow quiver. I have a copy of what I think was called the "High Noon" quiver that is really nice. I use the Asbell , Safari Tuff, and Cedar Ridge Powder Horn the most often.
