Shooting bullet holes thru paper with a dacron string. Switched to a FF string (I have phenolic overlays), adjusted to the same brace height, and now I'm getting a nock left tear. Does that sound unusual? I figure I need to start trimming 1/4" pieces off the back of my arrows. Any other adjustments?
Also, it seems the FF string is a little louder than the dacron...
Sounds normal if you are right handed. Sounds like you have a good plan.
You could lower your brace if it isn't already close to the limit or lessen point weight.
I wouldn't do anything though untill you've put a couple hundred shots through it to settle in the string.
I appreciate the advice fellas.
play with brace, also... why do you want to which for???? The B-50 sounds to be tuned just fine.
The string has settled in after a couple days of shooting. The tears I'm getting in paper are better too. I going to try and make it to the proshop over lunch break tomorrow (if I don't have a patient scheduled?) and watch the arrow flight over 20 and 30 yds. I also added another pair of catwhiskers, which has helped.
The reason I'm switching... part of my passion for traditional archery is rooted in the appearance of my equipment as well as the function. I love the threads of someone posting their new bows, batch of arrows, homemade quivers, etc. Simply put, I think the flemish strings are better looking. The one I purchased is a three-bundle, black and BRONZ-- pun intended!
Fleimish strings can be tied with dacron as well as fast flite type materials.
Apparently I need to do some more research on the characteristics of string materials.
So, on bows not approved for FF materials, do the string loops of flemish strings using Dacron need to be served?
