Title: With Turkey Season In The Rear View Mirror......
Post by: Roger Norris on April 23, 2025, 08:20:01 AM
For me, anyway.....it's time to start thinking about October.

I admire guys who use the same settup every year. Same bow, arrows, broadhead, treestand, clothes.....NOT ME :biglaugh:

For bows, this year I will be jumping back and forth from a Bighorn Legacy recurve and a Shrew "Super Shrew II". Hopefully both bows will shoot the same arrows.

I worked hard this winter at getting the VPA 3 blade heads scary sharp. 3 blade heads have always been a challenge for me, but I have it down now. Hopefully they will fit into my bow/arrow combo.

Teresa Asbell just sent me one of her new Canoe Coats in a new variation of Timber Ghost (pics soon) that has a bit of olive drab in the pattern. It's a perfect coat, and it will find a place in my hunting wardrobe.

I am also working on a more refined method of securing my Sling Pack to my Hunting Beast treestand. Last year I used bungee cords and it worked perfectly....but I hate the loose cords. I think I will reverse my thinking, and secure the cords permanently to the stand.

Oh yeah.....I might go fishing this summer a bit also :biglaugh:

Stay tuned....

October?  Not yet.  Not much of an interest in turkeys and didn’t even make an effort to get out for them this year.  We did hear some while working our hunting land though.  But, we still have perfect fall weather waiting for us in Africa.  I’ve learned the hard way recently to try not to speed time up by thinking too far ahead. Gotta appreciate now. Plus, this way we get to hunt fall/winter there during our spring/summer and then fall here.

Oh believe me, I appreciate "now".....I just love the details, scouting, prep work as much as I do the actual hunting. Without exageration....ask my wife LOL.....my mind is ALWAYS on the next season. :biglaugh:

Our weather is crazy. I was fishing in shorts 2 days ago....wearing my Canoe Coat while tuning my bow today. This Super Shrew II is absolutely going in the rotation this fall!!!!
