I had no idea this was available to bow hunters....
As someone who NEVER liked any bow that wasn't a one piece bow, I was glad to see the hinge, sleeve, bolt, slide, etc.... Those options gave way for a TD that looked like a one piece....
Why haven't I heard of this???? Why isn't this being talked about and gone viral? I had no idea this even existed till I contacted Kirk about a bow. This is genius. This is a thing of beauty.....
Just as Centaur comes up with a 2 piece revelation, Kirk has a 3 piece epiphany.... I'm all in on this one..... Going down in weight while going up in age has its silver linings.... Best get in line.

Wow!!!!
:o :o just simply WOW!!!
Jason
How excellent. :shaka:
Best riser he makes, imo
Terry, I have a version of that bow, not those colors, that I shot on 2023 Javvie hunt. 62"- 50 and 55 lbs. Adding 45 lb as we speak. Kirk may have pictures.
Everything on that bow is first class
Wow, had no idea about that feature either.
I've been building these for quite a few years now, but do not do much advertisement. The procedure is a bit time consuming and requires special millwork in the riser, as well as using T nuts in the limbs and overlays to cover the hardware.
I try and grain match the overlays as close as possible to give the illusion of a one piece bow.
Here are a couple more to look at.

WOW!!!
Works of art.
Gorgeous work, as always, Kirk. I can't wait to see how Terry's bow turns out.
Kirk, just wanted to make sure we talk before anything happens. I typed a 7 instead of a 5 and so I gotta make sure I get everything correct. I move too fast sometimes.....
Also, you SHOULD advertise this blind option and you should CHARGE for it. A pretty penny for sure. This is a very unique option not available elsewhere. Take advantage of it, as well as the credit. :readit:
Kirk, I just want to make sure you saw the typo...
Arrows are in the work already. I don't have to guess what spine. I already know in my head what will work.
Awesome, and I seldom use that word. :wavey:
THIS is beautiful craftsmanship.
I made a note on your work order on the grip circumference. We got this...
I will most likely get the riser laid up next week with another one I'm working on. I'll get photos as we go every step of the way and do the build along. Kirk
Sounds great.... 5 1/8s .... i don't need a flat spot
Dang. I think i NEED one of these! :notworthy: :saywhat:
Well Rob... Considering I know you are a serious long bow fan. I have something in mind that just might fit the bill nicely.
When I first came up with the full overlay design matching the limb butts, it was in fact done on my R/D long bow I call "The Flatliner". It was a pretty cool project with some unique artwork involved too.
If you would like to hear the story, and see the photos of this baby, I'll start a different topic and tell the tale.... Please let me know.... Kirk

That is a very cool idea. So how does it come apart or better yet how do you put it together? Is it held together by a bolt/screw that goes in those holes on the belly of the riser? Sorry if this is a silly question.
Thanks for correcting me Kirk. I didn't think Rob was much of a recurve guy. :biglaugh:
I got rid of all my curves years ago, except for my dad's and granddads. Yet these super curve intrigued me, so with the Sasquatch, I'll have two.
That Flatliner looks cool! Beautiful work, Kirk!

Well actually... My SS RC limbs are static tip, and have a pretty aggressive hook, But they are not really what bowyers consider a "Super curve". The true super recurve limb designs have a larger radius hook, and require Carbon composites to maintain torsional limb stability.
When the first Super curves ame out, I spent a bit of time with a couple prototypes, and honestly i just wasn't happy with the end result. While the draw force curve was outstanding giving you that unbelievable let off feeling at the end of the draw, I didn't like the way the limbs stopped after the Elvis had left the building. There was always a bit of bounce going on with those radical hooks. Some bowyers call it "limb bulge"... I called it a "Chicken Bob" action myself... It drove me nuts! And...The performance gain just wasn't worth the fragile nature of these carbon backed limbs, and uncertain longevity. I could see they were going to be warranty nightmares for me.
So i went back to the drawing board and came up with a good design that i could get excellent performance and stability just using glass instead of carbon with much better longevity.... You wont be disappointed on performance with these SS RC limbs.
Kirk
Thanks for straightening me out on the SS Kirk.
I'm fully aware of your issues with supers, such as borders, but the Centaur has non of those issues. If it wasn't for that incredible let off, I'd never know at release and return to brace if it was my longbow or my super.
No matter, I've never had a static tip recurve either... so I'm all good! :jumper:

Here is a short video on assembly and take down instructions. Typically the bolts do not extend out past the limb pad this far, but I used a longer brass sleeve inside the riser on this one...... either way. This is important.

I'm just as excited to see Rob's as I am mine!!!
Thanks for the video link Kirk!!! Again, very cool.
Yes, the video will be VERY helpful!!!
This design is simply ingenious. :readit:
Well hold on to your lug nuts Terry... I'm getting ready to begin your build, as well as get started on Rob's riser....
I got side tracked on a boat trailer remodeling project this week, but it's coming down the home stretch now, so i'll be back in the shop again soon!
Kirk
Well i finally got my boat project pretty much wrapped up. It's a never ending thing owning an old boat really...
BUT....I'm back in the shop and have your riser material on the bench. I need a choice for a leopard spotted riser or a wilder looking grain swirl look. Please let me know ASAP i want to get this baby going now.
that bubinga bow kirk posted in the top two pics is mine,, the mount system with hidden bolts is rock solid!!
Its 46@28 very fast and accurate,, I will be at ETAR and because of all the shooting I am bringing a different 42# bow but lmk if anyone wants to shoot it I will bring it.
I apologized for this taking so long to get this bow back on the bench, but i had a whole bunch of life get me side tracked the last couple months. ( i wont go into it)
But... I've got my full attention on getting this baby put together now...
I started a build album and have attached a link below of the progress. I'll get more photos of the overlays after i get the limbs balanced. Kirk

Geeezzzz at the HOOKS....
Wicked....
Terry, my thoughts also when I saw them WOW!!! you could almost use them for fish hooks!!! :biglaugh:
Jason
Well those hooks are cut down a bit when the length is established, but they still have a pretty nice hook when finished. About 3.5" ahead of the riser, and the preload is outstanding!.
IMG_5880.jpg
i've added some Tip overlay photos to your album too. (see link below)IMG_5876.jpg

https://photos.app.goo.gl/zw8FeCF4juoVv9dG8
BTW..... Those tip overlay photos just have a sanding sealer on them to pop the color. The finish sanding cleans up those marks and flaws before finishing the bow... Just a heads up.
Wow. I can't wait to see it in person.
Here ya go Terry... A couple pics on the tiller tree why i'm balancing limbs and bringing the draw weight down a bit. Check out that string angle at full draw here.
Easy on the fingers...
That is going to be a beauty!
Beautiful bow!
They are very fast bows!
Here is the tricky part... I milled all the laminations for the full overlay to match the limb butts. This is one of the key parts of giving the illusion this is a one piece bow.
IMG_5890.jpg
After milling everything i match up the limb butts for a visual inspection.
IMG_5889.jpg
IMG_5888.jpg
Once i'm happy with the millwork, these need to be clamped to the back of the riser and bent to fit perfectly. The material i'm using to match the limb wedges is very dense , and very stiff, and needs to be milled in 2 pieces so i can bend it easier. Even then it takes a lot of clamps to get this overlay tightly fit to the riser. This is done in a 5 part series of lay ups. I clamp everything together dry with no glue first, and let it set overnight so the material takes a set. The second lay up will be done tomorrow and i'll use epoxy.... But it will not be attached to the riser yet. i'll use a thin plastic over the riser to keep the two separated.
IMG_5892.jpg
IMG_5893.jpg
The 3rd lay up will require cutting the overlay to exact length to match the limb butts, and will be attached with stainless steel screws on each end and epoxy. i'll get more photos of that procedure as we get there.
The 4th layup requires doing the finish overlays over the whole riser and limb butts, and get everything fit perfectly.
The 5th lay up is the belly ramp caps that cover up the bolt holes and ties everything together. Stay tuned .... More to come.
:clapper: :scared: :clapper:
Can't wait to see the finished bow! Absolutely incredible work and outstanding design!
I,ve got the limbs mounted now, and it's time for the finished overlays and lipstick.
You may notice the 2 screws in the back of the riser. These are #12 wood screws bedded in epoxy to keep the overlay from popping loose. I do use epoxy to attach it, but the screws are needed for insurance.
This was one of the things I learned the hard way with this design, was that the ends of those overlays eventually crack at the 90 degree end of those full overlays. There is a tremendous amount of pressure on these TD risers, and even the stoutest hardwoods flex a bit.
IMG_5899_Original.jpg
IMG_5900_Original.jpg
IMG_5902_Original.jpg
Outstanding! :clapper:
Wow! :clapper:
The last couple days I got the finished overlays on the back of theriser and limbs. After milling the right thickness I get the riser done first. The after sanding the limb pockets flush, I mill the limb butt overlays to cover the T nuts and bed them in epoxy, and carefully match the grain as close as possible. Here's a few more photos.
IMG_5903_Original.jpg
IMG_5906_Original.jpgIMG_5907_Original.jpgIMG_5908_Original.jpg
IMG_5911_Original.jpg
IMG_5913_Original.jpg
IMG_5914_Original.jpgIMG_5916_Original.jpg
The next step will be bending the finished belly ramp caps on the riser to enclose the limb bolts. That step is a bit tricky too pre drilling the hole for the Allen wrench at just the right angle and then getting them bent into place in the right location.
More to come..... Kirk
Going to be a beauty!!
Home stretch now Terry... Here she is rough sanded with a sanding sealer. A few more days and i'll get some finished photos after i get some shooting in...

Not Bocote.... It's Black & White Ebony...
Sorry Kirk, it looked so much like Bocote to me. I stand corrected.
Well she's in the spray booth right now getting the clear coating this afternoon. She came in right at 47@28", and i think you are going to love the way this baby shoots Terry... I blew one of my nocks off off on the first bunch of arrows i put through it without even tying a string nock on it.. :biglaugh:

Hey Terry.... Rattle my cage and let me know whether you want this all set up ready to shoot with string silencers and adjustable string nock. I typically set it up with a velcro rest and strike plate, silencers, and tied on nock. Ready to rock!
Some guys prefer to set their bows up themselves... Thanks, Kirk
That bow is a beauty!
I can't wait to see it at LTR. Beautiful. JV
Yes, Kirk, by all means go ahead and set it up. I can always change the knock point if I need to.
I know it's mine, but that's got to be one of the wildest risers.I've ever seen in my life. I'm so glad I picked that particular block for you to use. I saw its potential, but I didn't see that far down the road. :readit:
Excellent.... Glad you like it. I'll get her all set up and get some finished photos outdoors before shipping. The tie on string nocks are adjustable just by twisting them on the serving.
It's always fun watching what happens when I shape a riser. Ya never know what that grain is going to do with this wood as it takes shape. All the shaping is done by hand. Kirk
I got her all set up, but ran out of daylight for any outdoor photos. I did take a few shots on the bench though... She's going to perform best between 7-7.25" brace. The string is a BCY Mercury with large loops both ends. I'll send the specs with the bow, and the string builder contact.
I use Johnsons paste wax and a Q tip to lubricate the location pin holes in the limbs. I heat it to a liquid with a heat gun first. Doing this a couple times a year is a good idea. I use Rem oil (Gun Oil) on the limb bolt threads once a year, or more if i'm hunting in the rain a lot. a little bit goes a long way.
Hopefully the sun will peek out tomorrow and i can get some decent photos outside....But for now here's a preview.

But it'll be a week or so till I can actually shoot it... cast comes off next week.
Tripped over my dog in the driveway and broke my thumb in two places...
Damn! I hate it when that happens... Is the dog ok?
wow
Kirk, beautiful work as usual. I always enjoy seeing your bows and would like to try one out someday.
Just curious from seeing the bow on the tiller tree, where do you measure draw length from? From front of riser? From throat of grip and add 2"? Is it consistent among other bowyers?
Again, great work. Terry I hope you enjoy it. Post up some kill pics to show it off once you get it.
What a stunning bow!!! Beautiful work, love the hidden limb bolt design!! Dang Terry, glad your thumb is getting better & it wasn't any worse!! Can't wait to hear your review & see some kill pics with it.

AMO draw length is from the deepest part of the grip plus 1.75", or typically measured from the back of the riser shelf. Most grips are 1.75" in depth, or close to it.
STUNNING!!!! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
I have enough of this ebony left to build 3 more risers. After that's gone, i probably won't see anymore of it in the future. Food for thought...First come, first serve. Kirk
Yes Kirk, the dog is fine. Hard to type I tell ya!
If anyone wants in on this riser wood, best jump on it!!!!
Kirk, that bow is gorgeous!
Terry, I hope your thumb heals up quickly and you can enjoy shooting your new bow ASAP.
Very nice! :clapper:
I did receive the bow just now in the mail. I will be opening it up in a few hours. And I will try to take a couple of pictures tomorrow as it's rainin here today. :jumper:

BTW, I still have a cast n my right hand and its hard to type, but this am I sliced my left thumb fixing breakfast.
I need 3 weeks in TX!!! :readit:
I just had to change my bandage under the removable cast. Thought I'd share a pic of the 3 pins that are healing my thumb that got broke in 2 places.

Okay guys and gals, I unwrapped her!!!
We have been so fortunate over the past twenty three years. To be able to showcase bows from our sponsors that are so beautiful and well crafted. I have taken animals with many different sponsor's pose, and it's been such a pleasure. Now it's time to give Bigfoot Bows their dues on beauty and craftsmensip.
I will be posting later when I get to shoot it as some of y'all know i've screwed up my thumb and I really can't be shooting right now. Pulling the bow's no problem, t's the shock of letting go of the string that I don't think my thumb needs since it's been broke in two places.
However, I can admire it and take plenty of pics. Here's a couple and I'll get a few more in a bit...
X
This bow is rediculous......
LY Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That bow is beautiful. The recurve hooks look big in the photos. It might have some supercurve performance, too.
I will have some more pics of the limb tips. And whatnot this evening.

These static tip recurve limbs will go toe to to with any of the super curves on the market in the performance department, and are a lot more durable than carbon backed limbs.
