Title: Another bare shaft tuning question

Hello all!
 I need to get ahead of this...  it's driving me crazy!

I have a Black Widow KB 48@28, right handed.  I draw 29.5" and have 31.25" gold tip 340 arrows with 50 grain  inserts and 200 grain points.   Bare shaft shows nock right, but point of impact is good.  I put in extra 50 gr weights on the insert, same result, 70 gr weight- no different.   I went to 100 gr weight with 250 and 300 gr points and still cannot get a weak arrow! 

Fletched arrows fly marvelous with the 200 gr points and 50gr weight on the insert.  Am I being too picky?  I'd just a soon have a slightly weak arrow in case I short draw this fall.

Any information would be appreciated!

When bare shaft testing, all you worry about is the point of impact.

Proper way to do it is shoot a couple bare shafts along with a couple fletched shafts.

If the bare shafts group with the fletched shafts, then all is good.

If they group to the right of the fletched shafts then they are weak in spine.

If they group to the left of the fletched shafts then they are stiff in spine.

If they group high, then lower your nock point.

If they shoot low then raise your nock point.

That is for a right handed shooter.

I agree with Roy when bareshafting 20-30 yds.  At those distances a weak or stiff arrow will definitely peel off left or right from point of aim.  I do however pay attention yo nock position when initially tuning 15 yards and in in my barn as this will tell me weak or stiff and give me a rough tune or starting point.  Only danger here is if your target material is such that it can cause erroneous readings.  I would advise letting your bow tell you what it wants.  Sometimes I'll be surprised by how stiff or weak of an arrow a bow wants, but as Ken Beck said-- bareshafts tell the truth.  Your bow may need 400 or even 500 spine shafts.  We couldn't get a weak arrow out of my buddies bow until we went down to 800 spine or full length 700s the other day.  I noticed the big spider silencers were much closer to the center of the string than I would set up.  He replaced them with puffs closer to limb tips and we got a perfect tune w 500s.  I had no idea this would cause a jump in 2 spine groups.  Good luck.
