Title: Selfbow reduction
Post by: Michael Guran on April 17, 2025, 08:41:07 AM
I have a beautiful snakey Osage bow built by Reece Field that is 6-8lbs too heavy for me. Does anyone do weight reductions on self bows?  I don't have the tools or skills to do it myself. I'm thinking about bringing it to the TN Classic to see if I can get some help if I can't find someone before then. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A big Thank You to PatB and the other guys for helping me with a stubborn bow this weekend!  I learned a lot and I really appreciate your patience. I'm hoping to take it to the woods this fall!

Glad I could help you out, Michael although that bow almost kicked my butt. Seem every time we weighted it after removing wood is read 49#. I think giving it a night to rest(and me too  ;)) we finally got it down to where you could handle it a little better. It usually doesn't take a day and a half to reduce self bow weight.  :dunno:
