Title: Looking for a string maker.
Post by: Larry m on April 16, 2025, 12:27:15 PM
I'm looking for a referral for a string maker who can twist me up a dacron Flemish to put on a 72" Bear Tamerlane 37# @28".
Or an endless loop for that matter. I seem to be having difficulty getting a response.

Wasn't sure where to post this. I just need a string.....

Thanks

SBD bowstrings (silent but deadly bowstrings) is a sponsor here.  He makes a good string.  I've used them for several years now and have no complaints. But I'm not sure if he does dacron.

I really like Ricks Traditional bowstrings for Flemish and Extreme bowstrings for endless loops. Turnaround times are great and both will customize serving size to your nocks.

Stilldub on ebay has made me some nice Flemish strings.  Fast service and great prices.  12,000+ strings and 100% ratings.

The best B-50 and or B-55 flemish twist I ever had made was 10 Ring.I usually get a 12 strand 2 bundle.

i dont think SBD does B-50 or B 55.But possibly he would? He makes a great flemish twist.

learn to make your own strings, it is not hard to do and you will never have to buy another one

This is true ........ and string making can also be fun.  And you have a feeling of accomplishment.   That being said,  you have to give credit to the folks that make strings on a mastery level,  which does indeed take a lot of practice, patience and devotion to mastering a craft that NOT everyone can do at that level. These string builders are favored for a reason, that being that they have the knowledge, experience and technique to crank out a killer string that they have become known for.
Good things on both sides of the coin here, making your own or buying one.   Definitely good things buying from a pro with a solid reputation.   We have the freedom to do either or both!  Having fun in the end game is what matters.

I use to make my own string but found it was cheaper to get someone to make them than buy the material for FF strings. Especially when I didn't make that many of them.
