I feel your pain brother... literally. I've been battling bulging discs for many years and dodging surgery. i've have had epidural steroid injections about every 4 months the last 2 years that has kept things to a dull roar, but my last shot just before Christmas didnt do a damn thing. So i've got an ablation therapy scheduled for early May.
I'm hoping this works or i too will be looking at the same surgery you are having. Good luck on that one... Kirk
Thanks
Mike, ya home yet or ya gotta stay a day or two?
Kirk, I had the epidural steroid injection between L4 and L5 last August 20th and it really helped me out. Now I gotta get one in the right hip May 1st. There are times when it hits me that I need crutches to walk for 4 or 5 days.
Well things did not go as planned. The doc had about 4-5 delay. They gave us an option to go home and reschedule so we resheduled.need the doc fresh anyhow.

I've had mixed success with the steroid injections over the last 2 years. Different doctors and slightly different locations made a difference too. But...Nothing lasted over about 3-4 months. i haven't got to the point of having to use crutches yet, but staying on my feet for long periods at a time is painful, and hiking any distance at all without constantly stopping isn't happening any more.
So i just pace myself, and sit more often..... What else can ya do? This getting old kinda sucks.
I had an epidural that lasted maybe 4 days.
I have to call in the morning to reschedule.
I had your procedure done about 8 years ago. It was one of the best things I've done for myself. It changed my life back onto a positive trajectory. The recovery stunk but it was worth it.
The pain isn't 100% gone 100% of the time but it's absolutely 1000% better than before the procedure.
Best wishes! :campfire:
All the best Stic when your surgery comes up, the nerve pain is no fun ... i had my surgery just over a year ago. Take care!
Did you get rescheduled on your surgery yet? I'm going in this coming Friday to get a series of laticane shots to see if I am a candidate for ablation therapy. I guess with the ablation procedure they go in and use a radio frequency to burn the nerves and it gives long term relief.
But they give you shots first to numb the nerves first to test it out before actually doing it.... Of course I'll probably have to go on another damn waiting list again even if it works....,I've waited 3 months for this appointment. :knothead: :banghead: :banghead:
Mine supposed to be the 14th.
I got toget a tooth pulled Monday and hoping there is no infection there to have to reschedule again. Golden years HA HA
I'm not sure who came up with this golden years crap, but I'd like to kick them!
Should be retired til 65 ,then work.
Prob wouldn't live thru it tho...
Hope you get er done Mike!
More like the rusty years, I definitely feel more rustic than golden. It sure would be cool if we could just get a reset back to about 20 years old without loosing the knowledge gained. I don't know whether I'd live though the roaring 20's again without it.
:biglaugh:
You boys are flat out old:) :biglaugh:
You a youngsters Mr. Roy
Roy, you need to respect your elders, like me. he he.
What was all that talk about being air dried vs well seasoned? The key is keeping things moving and maintaining your MC level...
Me thinks in Roy's case MC means mostly cloudy :bigsmyl:
