Well, tommorrow my PL X arrives! I've had the good fortune of shooting a loaner/PL for the last several months in kindness of Roger Fulton and BLack Widow...
Here is my question... It is going to be a 66' longbow. What length custom string do I need? 63?
I have a couple of custom strings for another 66 longbow, that measure 62.5. They are suppose to be 63 but are a little short (when not strung at least). Would these strings be ok?
Thanks
Excited
What woods are you getting in your PLX? I just got a pre-owned one this week in Bocote, it sure is a fine looking bow and a sweet shooter.

OSAGE, is there any other wood? Na just kidding, for me, Osage is King!
Anybody know about the string question above?
I have a 66" PLX osage and the string length is 62 1/4"(end of loop to end).I brace it at 7 1/4"
Steve,
My friend, I hope you enjoy the new PLX as much as I have the PLV!
We went after some piggies a couple of weeks ago, no luck but the stump shooting was a blast!
Thanks again and would love to see some pics of the PLX when it arrives!
John
Best of luck to you and your new bow. I have a plx osage 62" 56/28 locket socket w/beaver tail and it's a shooter! You will love it! Be sure to send us pics when you have a successful hunt...Tge
ps. Unstring that rascal and tan it every chance you get. I've been amazed at how quickly mine has darkened down, esp on the belly side. Osage is such a pretty wood that just gets better w/time. Good job!
How long is the string on your pl x???
I would test those on the bow when you get it Steve. If they are flemish twist you may have some wiggle room thier. When they are fully stretched and shot in you may be okay with them. That may take a few days depending on how much you shoot. If you shoot you bow at 7.5 to 7.75 inches br. hieght i think they may work for ya.I liked my 66 inch PLV at 7,5 to 7.75 inches personelly. My string is about 62.75 inches long.
Steve, why not shoot the string that BW sends with the bow? I haven't had any probs with mine. They shoot great and are nice and quiet. I shoot my 66" PLX Kingwood right around 8". It seems to like that really well. God Bless, Dave
Widow has nice strings IMO. I just locate two whooly whispers at both ends of the bow, move them accordingly to what quiets the bow down the best. I didn't find my PLX to be overly noisey, it does put an arrow down range with authority.
I used the string Widow supplies with my PLV and when I felt like replacing it just spun up another one with D97 myself. Strings are so easy to make I don't understand why anyone buys them.
My PLGA (Osage/Brazillian Rosewood) is 64" and the string is about 61 1/4". The Pl is an awesome bow!!!
