Title: Has anyone tried/installed the Ace Connexion Hinge/Bow Latch for two piece bows?
Post by: VTer on January 22, 2025, 11:02:35 AM
I ordered two of these and was looking for some helpful tips on how to install them before I actually do it. TIA.

Many years ago I had a member here ship one to me in order to have a machinist friend make a copy or 3. It was his opinion that too many "steps" were required to fabricate each piece.
I'm very interested in where you were able to purchase them. I'll keep an eye on this post  :campfire:

where did you find to order these?   A simple hinge system like this has been around since at least the mid 1800s.  I've seen period bows with a flat strap hinge inlet into the back of the handle that apparently workd just fine.

Ordered them from Ace Archery. Google them and give Bob a call as they are not on their website.

Your best bet is to do a mock up first on some scrap wood and test it out. Do you have photos of this contraption?

and the instructions.... I apologize these are not the greatest quality.
Instructions state using Grade 8 carbon steel screws as they have the best strength. Use a tiny bit of epoxy for final installation.

I have the instructions. I was just looking for input  from someone that had actually used one, or experimented with them in anyway.

I've used a few of them I think I have a couple left  . The last ones I bought from a fellow at ETAR he had a coffee can full and was selling them for $35. They work good not to hard to install . The last one I did I inset it into my overlays and you couldn't feel it on the front of the bow . I've made the locket socket but didn't like it much and I have some bow bolts that work good but you need a mycarta or g10 handle with the bolt .
