Title: Stay at Home Turkey
Post by: tippit on May 23, 2008, 08:15:00 AM
I go all the way to Vermont to turkey hunt with Vermonster a few weeks ago...had a great time mind you.  But look what's running around with my horses!  The picture doesn't show the nice 8+ inch beard.  I got to within ten feet of him in street clothes probably cause I had my camera & not Martha Stewart Bow  :knothead:

Actually we have a bunch that come into feed.  Can't bring myself to shoot one out of my own yard.  Plus I'm not sure if baiting with horse manure is legal  :)  Doc

Doc, isn't that the way it always happens. One place I hunt they come out into the fields to pick corn out of the cow manure.

That bird looks pretty calm. Going to have to name him if you see him again.

I feel your pain! Never had a bird within 200 yard of me during our season, but they have been in my backyard within 10 yards of my deck for 4 of the past 6 evenings!!  :banghead:

we called that the hot lunch program....farmers spreading manure.

and when it rains, go to the green.  Or better yet, go to the green with fresh manure in it before it's tilled up for planting...
