Title: ST. Louis Area Question
Post by: bayoubowman on May 21, 2008, 12:11:00 AM
OK guys, Things are heating up a bit in terms of a potential move for me from Baton Rouge to St. Louis. I was up there this past weekend doing some looking around(job/housing..etc) Some good looking ground up there for sure. Anybody care to offer some insight on best areas to live, work and of course any info on hunting opportunities would be welcome as well  ;)

Wildwood area if you want to hunt urban deer.  Some great opportunities for a bowhunter.

I would suggest trying to find a place reasonably close to where you will be working. St Louis traffic can be a bear if you drive downtown from the St Charles area and some other areas. There is major highway construction on I40/64 that will have a major impact on downtown commuters as well.

American Archery Pro Shop has a large number of traditional shooters that meet every tuesday night for 3-d shoots. You would be welcome to join in.

Where is American Archery Pro Shop?
I live in Fenton, and I could walk behind my house and get a pretty big buck I've seen and gotten half of his rack. There are a few does here too, only to many neighbors.  :(

Thank you in advance for any info,
Joe

I live about 20+ miles southwest of St Louis. Drop me a line if you want more info about that part of town. What are you looking for in housing and what work are you in?

Live 30 minutes north of St. Louis county.  Deer hunt a few mintues from my house in Pike County MO.  Pike ,Lincoln, and St. Charles County's are a deer hunters dream.  Also have 200 acres in Central Mo in Gasconde County not quite as many deer but a ton of turkey's.  250,000 deer a year are killed in MO they are all over.  Find a place close to work and tell us were you picked, will get you some good spots.

Lots of good areas to hunt as there are places to live.  I live in Washington and enjoy the small town atmosphere while only being 35-40 minutes from the big city.

Thanks for the responses. I am getting excited about the possibility of moving up that way. Things certainly are lining up that way at present. Resume is in the hands of some potential companies. Anybody know of someone that may be interested in hiring a retired, but young and hard charging Master Chief Petty Officer?     ;)
