What tools do you use to cut out the shelf/sight window on your lam bows?
HACKSAW AND RASP.HACKSAW FOR ROUGH CUT OUT AND RASP TO FINISH. DOESN'T TAKE LONG. BOB
I use a table saw.I raise the blade to the right depth and start cutting across till I get to where it flares back out and then start lowering the blade till it gets all the way down.I make slices about every 1/8".Then take a piece of wood and knock out all the little domino pieces. Then hit it with the sander to clean up and its done.My brother came in for the november hunt and I carried five blanks into the shop to work out the handles and when I came back out he couldnt believe how quick I got the five complete handles done. The finish sanding is another story. Now that takes up most of the time.
I carefully cut out the window with a band saw before glueing-up the rest of the bow.
