Well, I had an e-mail this morning from JD Lund at Whisperstik. My baby is going out tomorrow. So here's my question, how do I sleep, torn up with anticipation??
After shooting the 58" demo last winter, JD and I came to an agreement. I make him a bamboo flyrod and he makes me a bow. I wanted to try out one of the 56" Mojostiks to use in blinds, and other than a list of woods I didn't care for and the draw specs, I gave him free rein to do whatever he wanted. I asked him to not send me any pictures or description, since I'd seen enough of his work to feel comfortable with whatever he came up with. And it'll mean that much more to me, since it will totally reflect the bowyer's ideas and creativity and also be my first new bow, not one made for someone else. One thing I do know is that this bow will have a new riser design called "Outline" and will have tempered bamboo cores.
I'm beside myself with anticipation. Now I just gotta figure out how to get to sleep at night, lol. And hope he's as happy with the rod when it gets finished as I'm going to be when the bow arrives.
I know how you feel! Every custom bow I've ever bought that required a wait caused severe impatience-trauma. Funny how we can go most of our lives without a certain thing and no trouble. Then, once we commit to getting it, we go crazy with anticipation ... like the perfect woman. Currently for me it's a Shrew. At least yours is in the mail. Enjoy! Dave
Bro a couple shots of Crown always helps.
I am waiting on a Widow that might be shipped tomarrow. I have never even held a Widow before so I am pretty anxious.
Wow. The last time I ordered a new custom bow was back in 2002. Sometimes I take out that BW shipping notice and read it...... .... Dream on... :( ...
Well... Best Of Luck With Them New Bows!!!
I'll just have to be happy with my "new to me" Griffin and Shrew and '67 Grizzly and Kohannah and... and... and.........
... mike ... ;) ...

Gonna pass on the Crown, more of a Guinness guy myself ;)
Yeppers, gonna be a long 3-4 working days up here. I guess I'll spend the time working on JD's rod, along with one for another member here. It takes a bit longer for a bamboo rod vs. a bow, but it's gonna be one of the best trades I've made to date.
