Title: Pair of 53” Hybrid FHLB’s
Post by: JGR1269 on May 27, 2024, 09:25:17 AM
I recently built a bow for a guy in New Hampshire. After receiving it he decided he wanted another one in identical specs but with the opposite color combo. He went with Ebony for the riser and bamboo cores with Osage veneers under clear glass. Both bows are 53”, 46#@28”. A special thanks to Kenny for the materials. He sent some beautiful Osage veneers.

Those were designed at 60 in. I think.
To keep the reflex the same with relation to the riser did you shorten the limb how?

These were designed and built to be 52-54” max. After a few variations I settled on 53”, 15 1/4” riser, .001 total taper and a 4 7/8” tip wedge.

That looks like it will work just fine.

I designed a 52” bow very similar to the Shrew design years ago, and it was a good high performance bow that I could draw easily to 29”….  But the funny thing was…. Nobody was buying shorty bows. Besides a few turkey hunters, I built very few of them after the debut. I hunted with one myself for elk, and it was great in the brush….
