Title: titebond III release
Post by: horatio1226 on May 19, 2008, 01:12:00 PM
Is there any way to loosen up Titebond III? I glued some tip overlays on and don't like the way they came out. I thought maybe I could loosen them up with some steam. Thanks
Brian

might be better to cut them off or sand them off.

I'd email TB and see what they say, you may be able to get them off with a little heat.

The folks at TB told me to heat it to 150deg(F) and it will release. I was removing a hickory backing from a badly fretted belly and I heated it, began prying at one end and it came up as pretty as you please. With tip overlays, it ought to only take a few seconds.

You guys that use TBIII for your hickory and boo backings, keep your bows out of direct sun light and a hot car. I have used it for quite a while now and never had a problem.       Pat

Steam does disbond it as I've learned from experience.
