hey guys,
i have a 50# bear kodiak mag(grayling made) and i use it mainly for bowfishing.....but i really like just shooting it,especially w/ my 26" draw. the only thing is it has alot of stress lines and i know they might not be harmful but i want a newer KM...because lets face it..i'm only 25 and i am wanting a bow like this to pass down to my son one day and i dont know if this grayling bow would hold up forever.
so whats yalls opinion of the newer vs older??
anyone??
No experience with the K-Mag, but the newer take-downs are dandy bows in my opinion. I have a Gainsville A-riser w/ #1 limbs that makes a 56" 47@28 bow, and it's a nice shooter! Very smooth and mild mannered for such a shorty.
I guess anything glued together can't be guaranteed forever, but the old bows rarely break. I love the old bows and shoot them as well as new ones.
I prefer the old ones ;)
is there anything to watch for on these older bows?? are they prone to issues?
I just got a 45# K-mag this spring, and it is a GREAT little bow. I confess to shooting it more than anything else right now.
I'd also love to pass it on when the time comes, but until then I'm going to keep it strung and shoot it often. If it doesn't make it into my kid's hands (I'm thirty and just starting to expect babies), I'll make sure they get a K-mag of their own.
Watch for twist, stress lines, or delams, just like any other (newer) bow. Keep it out of the corner, the attic, and hot cars. That's it. And shoot it regularly. That's what I'm gonna do. Anybody else feel free to correct me, but I've heard nothing but good stuff about the longevity of the K-mag, as long as it isn't grossly abused.

The stress doesn't mean much, just watch it doesn't move. Look for signs of delamination..between the limb lams and glass. Other than that, it will probably out live you and your first born 8^).
cool!! well looks like i gotta find another one now!!
thanks guys
