Title: 50# Bear #2 limbs on B mag pulled to 30”
Post by: bswear on December 01, 2023, 03:46:59 PM
Anyone have an idea what poundage this combo would be on a b mag riser?  Never shot the #2 limb but like the idea of a 62” bow.  I’m am thinking probably plus 5 lbs so maybe 55 @ 30.  But really not sure if Bear rates limbs on B riser or A. So would they be 50 at 28” on a B and 52 # on the A?

I shoot the like setup #2's on a green stripe B riser 50@28=56@30. The limbs are old red tip limbs. All my original Bear limbs average 2 1/2 to 3# an Inch to 30" and 3 after that to 32". 32 was my draw length back in the seventies and eighties.

Thank you Randy.  I guess you like the way #2 limbs perform for you?

How bear lists the draw weights, bow lengths has varied a bit over time.  Bear bear used to list the draw weights and resulting bow length on the base of its TD limbs for all three riser lengths.  The numbers will be listed vertically and read something like this -- A - 56"-- 50#, B 60"- 48#, C - 64" -45#. Actually, the full sequence is only listed on one limb.  On the other limb, only that limb's (bow's) length and weight are provided.  Older red tip and white tip limbs (and maybe a few other colors) are marked like this.

Some older Green tip limbs are marked for B risers only, and I think they were only made in the shortest limb length, making a 60-inch bow on a B riser. The green stripe riser was only made in B length.  On newer limbs, the length and draw weights are provided for A and B riser lengths only. These would be the red/black and white/black tip limbs.

MNbwhtr provides a good example of how much the poundage will increase when drawn an extra two inches.

When you buy new bear limbs from dealers they say35#,40 pound,45 pounds 50 pounds etc.

But they don't say for what riser length.Like 40 pounds on the A riser and or 40 pounds on the B riser? Not sure why?But they should since their is 2 pounds difference between limbs mounted on the 2 risers.Just something I have noticed. It should be clarified on the dealers websites for the customer.

That B with number 2s should be a really good overall setup for you at your 30 inch draw length IMO.

Yes, really like the #2 limbs for my draw length. I have over the years had #1's and 3's but always come back #2's. On an A riser 58" they work well in my Antelope and turkey blinds and in a tree stand with a B riser they don't interfere with the branches.

Looks like I am in the market for a set of #2 limbs.  50# pulled to 30” should send them!

I've heard that the Limbs are marked in nearest 5# increments at 28". I have found that to be the case in a few I've checked.

I'm just getting ready to try a set of 50# number 2 limbs on my B.....

Always been a 60" bow fan.

I'm toying with the idea of an A riser and #2 limbs at 55#.
