I am thankful for my Doctor for referring me to a specialist once I had some serious reactions to a med combo that really scared me. I was having wild mood swings going off on people for no reason. I went off on a sponsor in an email due to a late payment, and any sponsor knows that is not the way I deal with that situation. I ALWAYS work with Sponsors if they need more time, however, this time I didn't. I also made a derogatory statement online to another sponsor for not returning my emails. Again, not my style. I also went off here on several threads for no reason.
Now the SCARY part is I didn't remember doing it the next day. I had NO recollection what so ever. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I had also answered questions asked on several threads that I went to post on the next day and saw that I had already answered it, again, no memory of answering it the day before at all.
I also showed a friend something I was working on one morning at breakfast, and then showed him again 2 days later at his place of business. When he told me I had already showed him 'at breakfast' the other day, I just played it off and said 'oh yeah, I've just been too busy'. There was serious issues with my short term memory like all of the sudden.
All these events were absolutely frightening so I ran to my doctor who referred me to a specialist, no sure what they call it, but some type of med/chemical/analyst. He diagnosed the issue and I have a follow up with my regular doctor next week.
I chatted with the sponsor that I emailed and he accepted my apology as he told me he had the exact same thing happen to him, and he sympathized with me big time.
So, I have something special to add to this Thanksgiving to the list of special things I already have.
Guys, when you get older, make sure to stay in touch with your doctor, things change. If anything goes awry RUN to your doctor.

Happy for you! That sounds scary and certainly not an easy thing to deal with. Good Providence on getting things balanced out and full restoration in all things. :pray: :campfire:

Glad things have been sorted out Terry. My daughter had a reaction to migraine medications that was too bizarre to describe. I've seen some wild things during my career, but this hit close to home. Very frightening. Have a great holiday. JV

Really happy you're getting squared away Terry. Glad you had enough sense to go get checked out before things got worse and it sounds like your issues are treatable. As they say, knowing is half the battle.
I suffered a lot of concussions in my youth from motorcycle wrecks, wrestling, boxing and kick boxing. My doc knows my history and keeps an eye on my neurological health. I'm 51 and would like to keep my mental aptitude as long as I can.
I appreciate you coming here and sharing your experience with us. Hopefully if anyone reading your post is having any issues, they will go get checked. :pray:

That's truly is a scary situation; really glad that your moving toward better health. Almost every one in my family develops severe dementia or alzheimers as they age. At almost 66, every time I forget something a panic alarm goes off in my mind. Is this the beginning?
The point is that when you do things you don't remember.... or forget the things you were supposed to do there's a great deal of mental trauma that goes with it. It's great you found your root cause.

Glad you checked with your doc...meds can do pretty bizarre things when mixed. It's a good thing you were alert to the signs and checked yourself on it. Most people would blow it off.

God bless ya Terry. I still suffer somewhat mood swings, short tempered mess and memory issues and I had surgery 6 years ago now. Not always easy. At one point I couldn’t even remember faces. Hope they got it figured out for you. We all have lots to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving guys

I am so happy to hear this, Terry. After you and I talked about this situation I was very worried about you. Thank goodness you got to a doctor who identified the problem as a medication side effect and that it is getting corrected.
It was pretty scary that you were unable to remember things that you had done. That is a very dangerous side effect. It is easy to imagine the horrible outcomes that could have befallen you had you not received a quick diagnoses and correction.
You are right about the need to rely on your doctor. Getting older is not for the faint of heart.
I'll add your diagnosis and recovery from a bad medication side effect to the things I am thankful about this Thanksgiving Day.

When you answer a thread with full intent and then the next day you click on it to answer it with full intent and find out you already have answered it is very concerning.
My answers were correct to my beliefs and knowledge and in real time, same as I was going to do the next day yet no recollection of my previous answer.
I am so glad I had the cognitive ability to realize what was happening and acted on it.
I also lost my will to hunt as this started right after the St Jude Bear Hunt in which I so enjoyed and I had full intention of going back, yet lost all interest.
Me losing the will to hunt is scary unto itself.
Now? LTR here we come!!!

Good news to hear Terry! A lot of my job is verifying med orders at the hospital i work at and addressing medication interactions. Some are mild and some can be deadly. You are lucky you didn't get misdiagnosed. You have a good doctor! :thumbsup:

Yes, Randy, it was like I had an out of body experience. I could not believe what I was seeing the next day even though what I did was mostly positive, and then which was correct and a lot of which was bizarre and wrong it was crazy it made no sense. Thank God. I had a brief moment in time where the medication wore off and I was able to realize something was very, very bad off.

Glad ur OK. I turned 70 little over a month ago. Been dealing w a lot of physical crap over the last 4 yrs. Still hunting and enjoying life.
Just recently had our 26 yr old daughter move back home after losing her job, her boyfriend, another 3-4 things that has left her in a very fragile mental state. We monitor her every move. Docs are having a hard time prescribing treatment. Day to day but God is in control!
