Nothing in life is free - there's non-bowstrings attached to Everything. I just ordered another digital dial indicator and will build another spine meter. While I used a powerful neodymium magnet to attach the meter on my current scale, there's a better/easier way and that's how this new build will get done. I'll document the process in a pictorial.
rob you still setting the pan powder off?

The spine meter I've built will cost between $25 and $50 at most, and it's LCD dial is readable accurate to .01" which is something the Ace can't ever do. I rest my case.

Good. I'll begin the tutorial as soon as the dial indicator arrives in two dayze.
This is a hanging spine meter, meant to be attached to a wall or some manner of supports because a bit of height is needed in order to hang the required 2lb weight. A tall stands/legs could be fashioned if need be.
Some components ...
Wood board - I use a 1x6x30 pine board (actually 3/4" x 5-1/2" x 30")
Two hooks, about this size ...

I use a plastic vitamin bottle filled with shot for the 2lb weight, but any exact 2lb weight will do just fine.
Sticking the indicator to the board will be accomplished by using the indicator's backside attachment hole to fit a 3/16" or 1/4" x 3" bolt through it and a pair of supports that are added to the board. This allows the indicator to be removed, if need be. Once the indicator is secured on the board, the hooks can be installed and their depth that's screwed into the board can be regulated so that an arrow shaft will sit on the hooks and the the indicator's probe will rest dead center on that shaft.

Make yer own, it's too easy, just as accurate than the commercial meters (if not more accurate), and waaaaay cheaper to boot ....In the process of building one right now got just about everything Ineed. Thanks Rob !!

Wood arrow spine metering requires the shaft/arrow to be center suspended at 26" and the weight needs to be 2lbs.
Carbon, aluminum, glass needs the shaft to be center suspended at 28" and the weight needs to be 1.94lbs.
My spine meter can do it all ... with ease. :saywhat:
