Took my nephew’s to elk fest yesterday and they absolutely loved the archery section. They had those cheap compounds you can buy from Wally World. What is a good poundage for a 9 and 10 year old boys? 76 and 64 pounds is what they weigh. I’d like to get them some cheap longbows for Christmas.

Depends so much on the kids but remember you overbow them you’ll wind up starting bad habits right off the bat. Can’t ask anyone here what those kids need. Some grown adults can’t even pull 20-25 lbs back. Either way don’t overbow them. Best to check eye dominance too if they’re just starting out then take them for the bows and do not get bows they’ll “grow into”. Get ones for where they’re at now

15-20# should work for them. Might want to get one of each weight to start. Don’t forgetvto get some good arrows also. The bow is only as good as the arrows.

Good advice start out at lower poundage and help develop good shooting habits, then progress slowly as they get stronger.

I found out the bows at the elk fest were 20#. Thanks for the help.
