Hello Bowyers!! I am going to post a link to something I found today, and I think a lot of us that are going to build our own bows for the first time see professional or semi-professionals use or speak about a lot like (KennyM, Crooked Stic, Buemaker, kirkll,) to name a few who are fantastic, and I am sure there plenty more, but I am new here and well I am old and read slow.

I am finishing up a smoker build and then I will start on getting ready to build a bow. This is likely to be a part of my package of stuff I build prior to ordering from Kenny.
Shoot straight, if you miss it COULDN'T be due to shooter error, the story always is there was arrow interference after the shot :biglaugh:-Lungman1

I have those exact plans from a magazine I picked up from an older gentleman that gave me a few boxes of woodworking mags. I really planned to build this exactly - then i found a grizzly 6x80 for pretty cheap. I'll be heavily interested to see the outcome!

derekdiruz -I will be interested too....lol. I have a few things to do before that. First is finish this smoker. Then and i just have to make myself do it, clean and organize my shop. Oh brother.....from the cealing to the floor, it has to be done. 23 years of stuff, odds& ends, should have thrown that away, etc. paint interior, move some things around. Then build hotbox (may put this up on a rolling stand because wall space is limited), put up tillering tree with layout lines (may be back side of rolling cart with hotbox), build clamp rack, and then the belt sander, bow form, and then bow! All that to build a bow! A simple stick and string. A R/D longbow. But its been a dream since i was a boy. So by June 24' my goal is to be shooting & preparing for the season.
So who all wants to help? Free Food! Hahahahaha!!

I was down this same path, also purchased a grizzly 6x80 and its working like a charm, looking like i can get a pattern sander out of the drive end like a few others have done on the site. When i factored in getting a motor with the lumber cost in those plans a used grizzly was cheaper for me. Although your building a smoker you you may be project oriented, in that regard go for the DIY

Then i found a used 80" edge sander on Craigs list that i used for a couple years before upgrading to a new Edge 80 edge sander that i had a bearing installed for pattern sanding.....
You might want to start out economical before going all in on a big sander, unless you have other woodwoorking projects you will use it on.... .02 cents.
