I was in contact with one of the hunters this afternoon and got a little information.
Seems the Canadian fire's :banghead: totally shut down the first week and the second week crew didn't see many bears because Tom couldn't run the bait long enough to get the bears coming to the baits.
But as he said; it's still hunting.
Hopefully someone from the hunt will chime in and fill in the full story.

I was wondering if the fires were going to interfere with the hunting as they are not that far away.

Sorry, just busy getting back into the swing of things after Bear Quest and haven’t gotten around to posting about my adventure.
As Dale said, the hunting was slow and I really don’t have any tales to tell. Seven nights in the stand and no bears seen. Out of the 9 of us hunting, 3 didn’t see a bear, 2 killed bears, and the others had some shot opportunities at small bears but passed. I did get my hopes up when I got a pic of this guy mid-week, but this was the only time he came in.
It was an abnormal year. It hasn’t been hunted since 2019 and the Quebec wildfires had an indirect effect on the hunt. It wasn’t really smokey (except for one evening) and the place wasn’t a blaze, but the area was shut down prior to week one’s hunt and Tom had to cancel that. Tom could finally get back in to start baiting again on I think Wednesday prior to when week 2 hunters arrived. So perhaps the bears just hadn’t found the baits quite yet.
It was still a hell of a lot of fun and Tom ran around like the Energizer Bunny taking care of us. I’ll let others chime in with their stories.
