Title: braodhead suggestions
Post by: Bob B. on May 14, 2008, 02:12:00 PM
I am looking for a glue on two blade head that is easily sharpened in the 145 to 165 grain range.  I hunt white - tailed deer, I would love to try a single bevel but am open to double bevel.  I have had trouble with Grizzely, some seem real hard, others not so.  Also, I get sick of putting on reasonable bevel for sharpening .. too much effort.  Any suggestions?

Bob.

I see Magnus has up to 160 on their page.... their straight blade facilitates sharpening.  Others will have good suggestions.

I use Eclipse, but they are a bugger to get started.....great after that.

STOS

I should add the Magnus heads all have an excellent grind and are very easy to sharpen as well.

Any of the top name heads should work fine for you.  Zwickey and Magnus come to mind but there are half a dozen other brands that are also great.

I've been real pleased with the Ace Express 165 grain that I have been shooting for the past several years.  It's a very tough head that sharpens easily and holds the edge very well.  The straight edge on the Express lends itself to being easily sharpened.
